Dear Austinburg Elementary Families,

This year we have several students in our classrooms with food allergies and/or diabetes.   We invite your help and cooperation to help them stay safe.

We have students who are allergic to many different foods or food groups. Reactions range from mild to life threatening. We also have diabetic students that must count all the carbohydrates that they eat in all foods. There are several practices that will be in place to help prevent allergic reactions and to assist in knowing what is contained in foods coming into our classrooms.

  1. In all classrooms, there will be special days and occasions that students may want to bring a snack to share. Please only send in food items, other than fruits and vegetables, in manufactured and sealed packages. Ingredients must be listedNO HOMEMADE ITEMS WILL BE PERMITTED IN ANY CLASSROOMS.

  2. 1N (Mrs. Noble), 2H (Mrs. Hollis), 4C (Mrs. Capo) and 5Q (Ms. Quinn) will be designated as allergy aware spaces. Specific snack lists or info are on the school website for these classrooms.

  3. Parents who will send a lunch from home for their child are free to pack the foods of their choice.

If you have any questions regarding our allergy aware rooms, please call us at 466-4831 ext 6005 or ext 6004 .
