Greetings from your neighbors to the North!  We are students in the grades 1-4 class from the Renfrew & District Christian School.  Our school is very small – only 28 children from preschool to grade 8.  We live in Renfrew, Ontario, Canada which is a small farming community located about 60 miles northwest of Ottawa, our country’s capital city.  We have four different seasons ranging from hot, humid summers to very cold, snowy winters.  The name “Canada” comes from an Iroqoian word “Kanata” which means village or settlement.  By land area, Canada is the fourth largest country in the world.  Canada became a country on July 1, 1867.  Our country has 10 provinces and 3 territories.  Ontario, our province, has many symbols.  Our provincial flower is the White Trillium, our bird is the Common Loon, our tree is the Eastern White Pine, our mineral is the Amethyst, and our motto is Loyal She Began, Loyal She Remains.  We can’t wait to learn more about your states.

Sincerely, Your Canadian friends
