Greetings from the Nutmeg State!

Did you know that the first lollipop was created in Connecticut?  Or did you know that P.T. Barnum lived here and started the Ringling Bros. Barnum and Bailey circus?  Our state bird is the robin and our state fish is the American shad.  Our minor league baseball team is the Bridgeport Bluefish.  Our state is lucky enough to have all four seasons!  We have mountains, lakes, trees, and rocks.

Greetings from Prospect, Connecticut!
Prospect is a small town consisting of about 9,500 people.  It is known as the “Best Small Town in Connecticut.”  We have had the same mayor for thirty years!  Our school, Algonquin Elementary, was named after the Algonquin Indians and has 470 PreK  3rd grade students.  We have 6 first grades with 18 children in each class.  We are looking forward to learning about your state.

Dear New Friends,
We are third graders from Charles Wright School in Wethersfield, Connecticut.  Our town is the first town south of our capital, Hartford.  We live in the suburbs.  Our town has about 27,000 people.  We are called the Most Ancient Towne because we are known to be the first town settled in Connecticut in 1634.  Our town is represented on the Connecticut flag with one of 3 vines.  The Algonquin Indians were the first natives to settle here, renaming themselves Wongunks (meaning bend in the river).  Our community borders the Connecticut River.  We have a wonderful Cove where the bend in the river is.  Wethersfield is also known as the Red Onion town.  George Washington planned a battle here.
We have many small stores and restaurants in our town.  Our parks have pools, baseball and soccer fields, basketball courts, playgrounds and even a park for dogs.  We have 4 different seasons throughout the year, hot summers, cold winters, warm springs, and cool falls.  We now have a 9-11 Memorial which is a sports center.  Come visit us sometime.
