MAINE

  scenes

Dear Postcard Friends,

We are a small K-8 school of 70 kids, there are 4 of us in the 7th grade: 1 boy & 3 girls.  Our town is on an island and a peninsula connected by a busy swinging bridge.

Maine is famous for lobsters, blueberries, and potatoes.  We have 6,000 lakes and ponds; 3,500 miles of coastline; and 32,000 miles of rivers and streams.  Our capital is Augusta.  State tree: Pine; berry: Wild Blueberry; bird: Chickadee; animal: Moose; gem: tourmaline; fish: Landlocked Salmon.  Go to this website to hear our state song: http://www.state.me.us/sos/kids/allabout/symbols/song.htm  Eastern Egg Rock, an island where puffins live, is not far from our town.  LL Bean’s famous store is in Freeport.  Some people from Maine are Bob on Survivor; authors Stephen King, EB White & Robin MacCready (mom of the boy in our class); & former NASCAR driver Ricky Craven.

Your friends in South Bristol, Maine
