NEVADA

  carson valley

Hi from Reno, Nevada and Mrs. Jones 5th grade class.
Fast Facts:
Capital – Carson City (30 miles south of Reno)
Statehood: Oct. 31, 1864 (Halloween & our State Holiday)
State bird: mountain bluebird
Some famous places to visit: Virginia city, Reno, Las Vegas, Lake Tahoe
More mountains than any state, more wild horses than any other state.
Nickname: the Silver State (for all the silver that came out of Comstock at Virginia City)
Leading producer of gold and silver
Average rainfall is less than 7 inches a year…so most days are beautiful blue skies.
Reno is at 4,600 feet.  So lots of snow in the winter and great skiing in the nearby Sierras.
Come visit our beautiful state!
