VIRGINIA

Dear Friends,
We are located in Springfield, Virginia.  We are very close to Washington DC.  We are also very close to George Washingtons home, Mt. Vernon.
Our school, Newington Forest Elementary, is surrounded by woods where there are rabbits, snakes, deer, squirrels, chipmunks, turtles, foxes, opossums, foxes, and coyotes.  Our school has about 700 students in grades K  6.  Our 4th grade class has 23 students and we really like science and sports.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Goldfeins 4th Grade

Virginia is known as “The Mother of Presidents” as 8 Presidents of the United States were born here.  The first permanent English settlement was founded in 1607 at Jamestown.  Shipbuilding is our most important industry.  Richmond is our capital, the cardinal our state bird, dogwood our state flower, and milk our state drink.  Our nickname is “Old Dominion” and our motto is “Sic Semper Tyrannis” which means “Thus Always to Tyrants”.
