Hi postcard friends,
We are a first grade class from Highgate, Vermont.  Our school has about 310 students in grades K  6.  Our class has 13 students, 8 boys and 5 girls.  We really love school and Vermont.
Vermont is known for many things.  The best ice cream in the USA is made in Waterbury, Vermont, Ben and Jerrys.  In the spring Vermont makes a lot of yummy maple syrup.  Two presidents were from Vermont: Chester A. Arthur  21st president from Fairfield, VT and Calvin Coolidge  30th president from Plymouth Notch, VT.  Our state capital is Montpelier.  The state insect is the Monarch Butterfly.  Vermonts state animal is the Morgan horse.  Our state fruit is apple and our state pie is apple pie.  Our state tree is the Sugar Maple.  Cant wait to hear about your state!

Dear Fellow Students,
Hello from Vermont!  There are over 3,000 farms in Vermont which produce 267 million gallons of milk each year.  The state tree is the sugar maple from which we produce maple syrup.  It takes 40 gallons of sap from the tree to make one gallon of maple syrup.  In 2008 Vermont produced 500,000 gallons of maple syrup.  The capital of Vermont is Montpelier.  Vermont has an area of about 9,600 square miles.  The population is almost 620,000 people.  We get an average of 70  100” of snow each year.  Our biggest city is Burlington.  Our state flower is the red clover…its edible!
From,
Your friends at Good Shepherd Catholic School
