door closed  open door
Snoopy is now on our door. He is holding a sign that says "Students at Work". Because we are at the end of the hall for the gym, cafeteria, restrooms, and playground it can be a little hectic outside of our door. I tend to leave the door open, but if we need a little more quiet I close the door. I also added Woodstock and all of his relatives.  Why is Snoopy wearing a hard hat and an orange vest?
On the other side of the door we have a Snoopy flag and a Welcome sign.
back of room
On the closets are our writing posters, math charts,  job chart, and levels of behavior posters.  Do you like doing jobs?
When school starts you will keep your book bags, lunches, coats, and hats in these closets. You will be assigned a closet.  If you pack your lunch you put your lunch on the shelf in your closet.  Bookbags go on the bottom row of hooks or on the floor.  Coats go on the first two row of hooks.  In the winter you will put your boots on the carpet outside our door.

computers   computers
We will be using several programs on our five computers.  We have one white computer and four black computers.  The white computer is also connected to the TV.  We can watch what is on that computer on our TV.
Our computer programs include JumpStart 2nd Grade, ThinkLink, I Love Spelling, I Love Math, I Love Science, USA Explorer, Magic School Bus Science Programs, and a few others. We will also do some story and letter writing on the computers. We will be doing several collaborative Internet projects with other schools. We will also be doing a regular postcard exchange through the mail.

desk  birthday flowers
This is my desk.  I tend to not sit here.  It is generally used to store things.  On the front of my desk is chart where you will indicate what you are having for lunch each day.  Everyone has their name on one of the pockets.  I have covered the names for this picture.
On my desk is our birthday flower pencils.  When you have a birthday you may pick a flower from the puppy planter.
back
Your name is on the word wall behind the computers.  I covered the names on this picture, but when you come to school on Tuesday you will be able to find your name.
Our video conferencing equipment is on the left with the Snoopy cover.  Video conferences are fun.   Last year we video conferenced with  Michigan State University Museum on how animals adapt to their environment. We could see and talk directly to a person at the museum.  She showed us some things in the museum and asked us questions.  We even had live crickets to study before and during the program.  I hope we can have a video conference again this year.
closets
Each of the desks have a name tag, a list of writing words, and a chart of the  levels of behavior.  Each name tag has a map of the United States, a multiplication chart, inch ruler, mm ruler, fractions chart, place value chart, and alphabet.  I have covered up the names because I am posting this picture on our web site.
levels   dlevel  c level b level  a level
These four poster show the levels of behavior. Our goal is to reach the "Deciding to be Responsible on our own" level .  The next acceptable level is cooperation.  The levels of Bossing/Bothering and Anarchy will not be allowed in our classroom.
If everyone cooperates, we can keep our classroom a great place to learn.
