Groundhogs
Groundhogs are furry and brown.  They have four toes on their front feet, five toes on the back feet.  They eat grass, seeds, roots, and plants.  They live underground.  They drink little water and they have good eyesight.

Groundhogs are hogs of the ground because they will eat anything on the ground.  They look like huge squirrels with coarse fur, a short bushy tail, and very small ears.  They eat grasses, plants, and berries.  They use burrows for taking care of their babies, sleeping, and hibernating.  Even though they are called groundhogs they can swim and climb trees.  Groundhogs can eat as much as ¾ of a pound of salad.  Most groundhogs live one year or less.  I really really like groundhogs.

A groundhog is an adorable furry animal that lives beneath the ground.  Groundhogs are about the size of a cat.  Their head is flat with a pointed snout.  Their eyes, nose, feet, and tail are black.  Their fur color is brown and gray.  Their legs are short and strong.
Groundhogs eat lettuce, tomatoes, corn, carrots, apples, etc, bugs, and eggs.
Groundhogs build their homes underground.  They are usually beneath sheds, decks, and other structures which offer protection.
Groundhogs begin hibernation in late September or October.  They fall into a deep sleep.  They come out of hibernation around March or April.  Groundhogs are mostly vegetarians and hibernate in the winter.

The groundhog or woodchuck is one of fourteen species of varmints.  In the middle colonies the woodchuck creature acquired another name groundhog, goes back at least as far as 1742.  A groundhog is a rodent that lives in an underground hole.  It grows to nearly 15 inches and has a tail six inches long.  The claws on its front paws are used for digging.  The groundhog is also called a whistle pig.  The groundhog has good eyesight.  When it sees an enemy it alerts other groundhogs.  It eats mostly plants and roots and seeds.  It stores food for winter in its hole where it keeps everything it needs.  I have learned a lot about groundhogs.

This is a story about groundhog or known as woodchuck.  What I have learned about them is they dig holes to live in.  They are brown and furry.  Groundhogs eat vegetables wherever they can find it.  They sleep all winter long.  On February 2nd, they wake up and come out of their hole.  This is called Groundhogs Day.  If he sees his shadow he goes back into his hole.
