Hello from Semmes, Alabama!
We are a small community located on the outskirts of Mobile. We are
very lucky because we live about an hour away from the gorgeous beaches of
Gulf Shores. Unfortunately, we also experience hurricanes because we
live so close to the water. Alabama became a state on December 14, 1819
and we are the 22nd state of our 50 states. Our governor is Bob Riley
and we have a population of 4,447,100 residents. Our capital is Montgomery
and our state flower is the camellia. Our state bird is the yellowhammer.
We have two colleges that are very well known for their football teams:
The University of Alabama (Roll Tide!) and the University of Auburn (War
Eagle!) There is a lot to see in Alabama!
