COLORADO

city lights
Greetings from Colorado, the Centennial State.  Colorado is called the Centennial State because it became a state in 1876 when the US was celebrating its 100th birthday.  Our school is located in the city of Centennial, a city formed about 6 years ago.  Centennial is a suburb of Denver.  Colorado has 54 mountains over 4,000 feet tall.  Two of our major industries are skiing and tourism.  Our state flower is the columbine.  Our state tree is the blue spruce and our state bird is the lark bunting.  Come visit our wonderful and beautiful state!

Dear Postcard Pals,
We are kindergarteners from Erie, Colorado.  We go to Erie Elementary and have 12 boys and 10 girls in our class.  We live in a beautiful state!  We can see the Rocky Mountains from our school.  In the winter, we get lots of snow.  Many people come to Colorado to ski and snowboard.  We are practicing to become readers and writers.  We like to sing songs and do learning centers.  We hope you have a terrific year!
