<>Greetings from Mrs. Brown’s First Grade Alexander Elementary!
Our school is in Slater.  It is a rural community of about 2,000.  We are located about 15 miles North of Marshall if you look for us on a map.  We have 12 students in our class, 7 boys and 5 girls.  We like computers, PE, Art, recess, reading, and getting mail!  We have a traveling buddy Alex, our school mascot is a wildcat, and our school colors are purple and gold.  We are part of a Pre-K – 12th grade building!  Missouri is the Show-Me State, flower Hawthorne, tree Dogwood, animal – mule, bird – bluebird, fish – catfish, and insect – honeybee.  The Arch is located about 3 hours east of Slater in St. Louis along with the 2006 World Series Champion Cardinals, Blues hockey, and Rams football.  Kansas City is to the west about 2 hours.  It is home to the Royals, Chiefs, and largest number of fountains in the United States!  Missouri is also home to the Ozarks and Branson.  Just a fun fact.

Sorry for such a delay in getting out our postcards.

We are enjoying all your postcards!!

Dear Mrs. Gray’s class,
Hi!  How is it up in Ohio?  In Missouri there are many beautiful things.  The most beautiful things are the lakes of the Ozarks, Mark Twain cave, and the Gateway Arch in St. Louis.  We have 3 really big cities: St. Louis, Kansas City, and Jefferson City.  Come and see Missouri!

Dear Class,
Carl Junction Intermediate (4-6) has about 750 students and our mascot is the Bulldog.  We have ten 4th grade classes in our school and 25 students in our class.
We are located in the extreme SW corner of Missouri.  Our beautiful state consists of plains, mountain areas, and lots of caves.  We are a short drive from popular Branson, Missouri.
Missouri is proud to have the Kansas City Chiefs, KC Royals, St. Louis Rams, and St. Louis Cardinals.  Our state capital is Jefferson City.
Interesting fact: Our state fossil is the crinoid, which looks like a plant, but is a sea creature.  This means Missouri, the middle of the US, was once covered with ocean!
Hope to hear from you soon!  Have a great year!
