Greetings from the #1 beach in America, Ocracoke Island, NC. In our coastal region you can visit the Wright Brothers Memorial.  The Wright Brothers invented the airplane in Ohio, but made their first flight on our tall sand dunes in Kitty Hawk.  In addition it is rumored that Blackbeard, the pirate, buried his treasure right here on Ocracoke Island and we are still looking for it!  NC’s coastal swamps are the only place in the world where Venus Fly Trap plants grow. You will find our majestic mountain ranges, the Appalachian and Great Smokey Mountains the western part of NC. In NC, we are trying to save the endangered Red Wolf by creating a Red Wolf Sanctuary. Krispy Kreme Doughnuts (yum!), miniature golf (yeah!), and Pepsi (gulp!) were all invented in NC. Your friends from the Tar Heel State.

Dear Boys and Girls, We are first graders at Benhaven Elementary School in Sanford, NC.  We have 10 boys and 11 girls in our class.  We are a K-5 school.  Our school is located near Fort Bragg Army Base “Home of the 82nd Airborne Division”.  We are called the “Tarheel State” and Raleigh is our capital.  The mountains on the western part of our state and the beach on the eastern side make it a great place to live.  We like calling NC home. Dear Class, Greetings from Raliegh, NC!  We are a 3rd grade class of 24 students from the capital city of NC.  Raleigh is known as the “City of Oaks” because of our many oak trees.  Our area is home to 3 major universities: UNC, NC State, and Duke.  While in Raleigh, you can visit many museums, theatres, and sporting events.  We have a great location because we are about 3 hours from the mountains and 3 hours from the beach.  Come and visit us sometime in the Tarheel State!
