| Hello from Draper, Utah!
Our school, American Prep Academy, is a public charter school with 730 students
in graders K – 9, where there are 28 students in our class. We are in
the shadow of the beautiful snow-covered Rocky Mountains just to the east
of our school. One of our state’s slogans is “Greatest Snow on Earth”.
Perhaps you’d like to visit our ski resorts and see if that slogan is true.
To the west of our school, we can see the Kennecott Copper Mine, which is
so large it can be seen from outer space! We know this because our teacher
has an astronaut friend who told us this was true. Our city is located
approximately 20 miles south of Salt Lake City, our state’s capital, and
past home to the 2002 Winter Olympics. We are also located 20 miles
north of Provo. There is a huge in-state rivalry between the University
of Utah and Brigham Young University and it doesn’t matter which sport is
being played. Our state is home to the Utah Jazz (basketball).
Within walking distance of our school are two large businesses – Coca Cola
and Ikea. We have been studying about the American Revolutionary War
and the first seven United States presidents. In science, we have been
studying about chemistry and the mountains of the world. We’re excited
to be part of this postcard exchange. Happy holidays! Mrs. Chappell’s 4th Grade Class |
| We are a 3rd grade class from Perry, Utah.
Utah has many mountains and lakes. Perry is located by the Rocky Mountains.
We have 5 National Parks in Utah. They are Arches, Bryce, Capital
Reef, Zions, and Cayonlands. The state bird is the seagull.
The state tree is the blue spruce. The state capital is Salt Lake
City, home of the Utah Jazz. Have a great day! From, Mrs. Lee’s 3rd grade class |

| Howdy from Utah! We are
a kindergarten class of 16 children. We have 10 girls and 6 boys.
We love learning about all of your beautiful states. Here’s a little
bit about Utah, also known as “the Beehive State”. Bird: Seagull Flower: Sego Lily Tree: Blue Spruce We have several state and national parks. You can ski on the best snow on earth or you can hike the narrows or even drive a car across the salt flats. The great Salt Lake has so much salt, that you can float! Mrs. Harken’s Class |
