HOLIDAY CARD EXCHANGE
December 2007

Cards from Other Classes

OUR CARDS
We created a froggy Christmas card.  On the front we had tree made of frogs and the words, "Hoppy Holidays!".  Inside our card was a large frog whose mouth popped open.  The words inside the card were "Wishing you a Christmas that's simply unfrogettable!"  We also included a "stained glass" ornament from scrap lamination film, a woven Swedish Christmas heart holder and a letter about our community, school and classroom.

Dear Friends,
We are a class of second graders at Austinburg Ele. in Austinburg, Ohio (41.46N. 80.51W.).  Austinburg is a Pre-K-6 building with about 350 students. Our school is the multi-handicapped building for our school system, Geneva Area City Schools. We even have an elevator in our building for students who use wheelchairs and walkers. We have 23 children in our class - 13 girls and 10 boys. We live in Austinburg, Geneva, Geneva-on-the Lake, Jefferson, and Ashtabula. Cleveland is the closest large city.
Austinburg is named after one of its founders, Judge Eliphalet Austin. Austinburg is a rural area. There is a horse farm next door to our school. When we look out our classroom windows we can often see horses and goats in the pasture next to our classroom. Sometimes the horses and goats get through the fence and come over to our playground.
We have two pet black gerbils in our room. Their names are Crystal and Midnight. They love to run in their wheel and watch us as we do our work.
Our room is known as the Snoopy classroom in our building.  Our teacher has lots of Peanuts/Snoopy things in our room.  We even have a Charlie Brown Christmas tree.
We love Christmas.  We write letters to Santa, cut down Christmas trees,  decorate Christmas trees, bake cookies, make presents for others, go shopping for gifts, visit Santa in local stores, wrap presents, give presents, open presents, perform in Christmas plays, sing Christmas songs, make Christmas decorations, visit family and friends, play in the snow, send Christmas cards, put up decorations, read Christmas stories, participate in Christmas parades, go to church, put out cookies and milk for Santa, sprinkle magical oats for the reindeer, leave carrots for the reindeer, look at Christmas lights, donate food for the Food Pantry, collect money for USO packages, make Christmas cards for our service people, adopt a family for Christmas, and enjoy the love of our families and friends.
