Student Council School Store
Our Student Council will be selling pens, pencils, erasers, etc., at the School Store on Friday mornings as follows:
March 7 and 14
 April 4, 11, and 18

Please send money with your child, if he or she is in need of any small school supplies!  Help support our Student Council!
Lake County Captain's Reading Program
Austinburg Elementary students will again be participating in the Lake County Captain’s Reading Program this year.  During the month of March, teachers will track students’ reading logs.  Then early in April, folders will be awarded to students who have met the criteria set up for each individual class.  Folders will contain the order forms for tickets to be ordered, in addition to the free ticket earned by the participating student.  Each participating student will receive a pencil, a coupon for a free hot dog, and a T-shirt on game night.  Our school game night is Friday, May 30, 2008.  There will be fireworks that night at the game!  Hope to see everyone there!
Ohio Achievement Tests
It’s not too early to prepare your child for the Ohio Achievement Tests that will be given the week of April 21-25, 2008!  You can share these tips about the types of questions that may appear:

1.    Read all of the answers before marking your choice.  Remember, your first instinct is usually best—so don’t change your answer unless you’re sure.
2.    Read the short answer and extended response questions at least twice.  Then, make a list of important thoughts or key points about each question before writing your answer.
3.    Check over your answer when you are finished.  Be sure to look at spelling, capitalization, and punctuation.

Research has proven that students work more effectively when they have had adequate sleep and a healthful breakfast!
