News You Need to Know ...
Parent/Teacher Conferences
There will 2 nights set aside for Parent/Teacher Conferences. A letter with
the date and time of your conference with your child’s teacher will be sent
home. We look forward to seeing you at Conferences!
Dates: November 5th and 19th from 5:00-8:30 pm
Parental Notes;
Parents please remember to call in your child when they will not be in to
school and to also follow that with a note describing their absence when
the student returns. This seems redundant but we are required to have notes
on file. Thank you for your cooperation.
PEAC RECOGNITION
A member from PEAC ( Partnership for Education in Ashtabula County) attended
a staff meeting on Monday, October 1st to recognize our accomplishment as
a school that was rated Excellent on our Local Report Card. By “as a school”
this means, Parents, Teachers, Staff, and Students. Keep up the great work
for this year!

Box Tops
Many of you have been collecting
Box Tops all summer so we are gearing up for a fall collection. Please remind
your child to pay careful attention to the announcements for further details.
Medication
All medication must be brought into
the school office by a parent or responsible adult. Medication may not travel
with a student on the bus. Only prescription medications labeled with the
name of the medication, pharmacy, and dose will be dispensed. Medication on
a 6 hour schedule can be given before leaving home and immediately after school.
Please stop by the office for the appropriate paperwork in regard to medications.
GRANDPARENT LUNCHEONS
In order to allow enough time for grandparents to adjust
their schedule, the dates and times for Grandparent Luncheon follow:
Monday, November 19th we will host grades 1,4,6
Tuesday, November 20th we will host grades 2,5, Kdg.
Wednesday, November 21st we will host grades 3, Kdg.
Grandparents will be asked to arrive 5 minutes prior to their grandchild’s
lunch time. A reservation form will be sent out the beginning of November.
PARENTAL PERMISSION
Parental permission must be received for any change
to a child’s normal dismissal procedure. Parental permission is also required
for after school events ( scouts, basketball etc.) and field trips, or students
will not be permitted to stay. Please make sure to keep your emergency form
up to date. This is the form we use to contact you in case of illness/accident
with your child. This form also lets us know who has permission to pick up
your child. The more information we receive, the easier it is for us to communicate
with you.
CONTESTS
Our students in grades 4-6 were asked to participate
in the Geneva Library Poster contest. The theme was what the students thought
happiness meant. Our artists had some great creations!
The students will also participate in the annual Covered Bridge art contest.
This contest is sponsored by the Harpersfield Heritage Society as well as
the Harpersfield Ruritans. The pictures will be done in class and some at
home and are due on October 9th.
FIRE PREVENTION AWARENESS
October is National Fire Prevention Month. Chief Henry
along with volunteers from the Harpersfield and neighboring Fire Departments
will visit our school on October 11th. They will discuss the importance of
fire safety to our students, demonstrate exit procedures, and allow the students
to view the equipment. This is always a positive experience for the students.
Thank you Chief Henry and volunteers.
