August 31, 2004 Dear Parents and Students, We will be using computerized cash registers again this school year in the cafeteria. Every student has been entered into the computerized system. If your child qualified for free or reduced price lunches or breakfast last school year, this information is in the system, and your child will have the same meal status until a new application is filled out. Please fill out a new application as soon as possible before October 1, 2004. Students can pay in cash. However, we strongly recommend parents/guardians deposit checks or money into the student’s account. Deposits must be placed in an envelope with the student’s name, grade & teacher. If there is more than one student in a family, one student may make deposits to their sibling’s accounts as long as you tell us the amounts to deposit to each account. Example: A $20.00 check……Billy Doe - Grade 4, Teacher’s Name $10.00 Judy Doe - Grade 6, Teacher’s Name $10.00 Check prepayments are accepted and encouraged; place your child(s) name(s) on the check. Question: What will stop the student from purchasing more than the parent allows? Answer: If this is a problem with your child, simply notify us in writing what their limitations are and it will be programmed into the system. Example: A student desires to purchase 10 ice cream sandwiches and you only permit one per day, information will be placed in the system and we will comply with your wishes. If a student’s account gets low, our staff will remind them. Money in the student’s account at the end of the school year will be carried over to the next school year. If a student withdraws, please send us a letter to receive a refund. If you are concerned about a food allergy that your child has, please notify the cafeteria. A warning will appear on the cashiers’ screen to review the items on the student’s tray. If you would like a copy of the transactions of your child’s account we will be able to give you a print out.
