Your project for this 9 weeks will take place in 4 stages, one each 9 weeks.
Here are some of the highlights:
·    NO PARTNERS
·    NO PHYSICAL PROJECT, NO PRESENTATION
·    USE ONLY INFOHIO RESOURCES** OR the PROJECT PATHFINDER (list follows)
·    MLA FORMAT (Booklet available in the media center)
·    INDEPTH STUDY ON TOPIC FROM LIST PROVIDED
·    FINAL PAPER TO BE APPROXIMATELY 1-2 PAGES

You will be asked to have the focus statement turned in to me on the following date:

Project topics
French I and II

1. French cooking  methods, amounts, famous dishes, etc. Do restaurants serve similar meals? How popular is fast food? What about cafés? Do they compete with fancy restaurants? Do many people eat at restaurants, or mostly tourists?

2. Educational system  secondary, class structure, time involved, student/teacher ration, schedules.

3. French family life  how similar/different is it from American? Chores, allowances, cars, clothes, 2 working parents, divorce?

4. France and its neighbors  who are the neighbors? How does this influence the culture, cooking, life of the area?

5. Grocery shopping  how is it different? What is a typical store like? Prices? Amounts? Freshness? Availability?

6. French meals  what is a typical family meal? Portion sizes? Times eaten? Prepared by mom or whom? Eaten on the run? Eat out often?

7. Ways to stay healthy  is there an emphasis on health like there is in the US? Is obesity a problem? Do students have a physical education class?

8. What are some of the other French speaking countries NOT located in Europe? Where located? Products? Why do they speak French?  Different dialects?

9. Paris? Whats it like there? Do many people live there, or is it mainly business oriented?

10. Holidays? What are their major ones? Do they celebrate the same ones we do? Which ones? How are their traditions different?

11. Guadeloupe and Martinique? Where are they? Whats life like there? Is there government the same as in France? Products? Services?

12. Sports and leisure activities  what do French teens like to do for fun? What is a typical weekend/holiday/vacation like for them? Similar to us or not?

13. French Canada  our northern neighbors. Are their traditions more French or American? Do they feel lost? Underrated? Whats life like for them?

14. Senegal, Ivory Coast, French Polynesia  how is life different in these French speaking countries than it is in the US or France? Why do they speak French? What are their days like? Industry?

15. Famous French people  what have French citizens contributed to the world in the way of health, science, space exploration, etc?

16. What is life like in contemporary France? How has it changed in the last 5, 10 years? What do these changes reflect? How have they affected the population?

17.  Chateaux de la Loire / Versailles  where are these places located and why are they so important to the history of France? How do they compare to any American monuments?

18. Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco  where are these countries located? What is the influence of France on them? What is life like there? Products, population, etc.

19. Art museums in Paris  what are the most famous ones? Why are they famous? What painters have most influenced this countrys art?

20.  Music  what types of music are most popular in France? Who are some of the contemporary artists? Is recording a big industry? What does the average CD cost? Is their music varied? What countries influence it the most? Least?
