Spencer Elementary is located five miles south of Lake Erie in Geneva, Ohio.  Approximately 430 students from Geneva-on-the-Lake and Geneva Township are enrolled.
Spencer School was built in 1924.  It was originally called East Geneva Rural School.  In 1937 the name was changed to Platt R. Spencer School in honor of Platt Rogers Spencer who lived and taught in Geneva and founded the Spencerian method of penmanship.
The school began as a Grade School/High School but in 1961, due to consolidation into the Geneva Area City School district, became a K-6 elementary school.
