COMPUTERIZED CASHIER SYSTEM

Dear Parents and Students,

We have computerized cash registers in all of our cafeterias. If your child has qualified for free or reduced-price lunches or breakfasts, this information is in the system, and the meal will be processed just as it is for all other students for optimum confidentiality.
Students can pay in cash. However, we strongly recommend parents/guardians deposit checks or money into the student’s account. Deposits must be placed in an envelope with the student’s name & PIN number. If there is more than one student in a family, one student may make deposits to their sibling’s accounts as long as you tell us the amounts to deposit to each account.

A box is located in the Secondary Kitchen for pre-payments. Please make these in the morning before school starts or in between classes.

Example: A $20.00 check…… Billy Doe - Grade 7, Teacher’s Name $10.00 Judy Doe - Grade 8, Teacher’s Name $10.00

Check prepayments are accepted and encouraged; place your child(s) name(s) on the check.

Question: What will stop the student from purchasing more than the parent allows?

Answer: If this is a problem with your child, simply notify us in writing what their limitations are and it will be programmed into the system.

Example: A student desires to purchase 10 ice cream sandwiches and you only permit one per day, the information will be placed in the system and we will comply with your wishes.

If a student’s account gets low, our staff will remind them.

Money in the student’s account at the end of the school year will be carried over to the next school year. If a student withdraws, please send us a letter so we can refund your money.

If you are concerned about a food allergy that your child has, please notify the cafeteria. A warning will appear on the cashiers’ screen for a review of the items on the student’s tray.

If for any reason you would like a copy of the transactions of your child’s account we will be able to give you a printout.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at my office 466-4831, ext. 189.
Thanking you in advance for your patience in implementing this system.

Sincerely,
Laura Jones
Director of Food Service
