I feel extremely honored and excited serving as the Principal of Geneva Platt R. Spencer Elementary (GPS). Prior to my role here as principal, I was a teacher for eleven years at both the elementary and middle school levels in Ashtabula County (2003-2006; 2007-2014) and South Carolina (2006-2007); primarily serving as an intervention specialist. In my most recent position, I served as the Assistant Principal of South Elementary School in Madison, Ohio (2014-2017) where I focused on developing a school culture that centered around students through Positive Behaviors Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and family engagement (family nights).
The staff of GPS is highly dedicated and committed to making sure each student is progressing academically, socially, and emotionally here at school. Your students’ safety, academics, and well-being is a priority. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact your child’s teacher, the office, or myself. We are always happy to help and assist in any way that we can. I encourage you to spend time each day talking with your child about their day here at GPS, read a book together, play a game or two, practice math facts, and always enjoy a good laugh together. Your child’s elementary years are priceless and probably the most memorable. I hope we can make some new memories this year as well together.
In closing, I hope you find this website helpful in regards to reviewing the school district’s and building’s procedures, guidelines, and most current information. Additional information can also be found through the Navigator Newsletter or @GPSGustin on my twitter feed.
