Senior Mickey Zheng successfully qualified for the district tennis tournament yesterday, following a dedicated 2.5-hour performance at Boardman High school. She is set to return on Saturday for seeding and will compete at Springside Racquet Club in Akron next week, with her sights firmly set on the state tournament. Congratulations to Mickey! Here are the GHS Announcements for Friday, September 20th Last night the Ladies Soccer Team played a home game against the Jefferson Falcons. The ladies won 2-0. Goals were by Seniors Bridget Doherty and Sophie Galliazzo. The ladies record is now 4-5-3. Games next week are Tuesday, September 24th 7:00 at Perry and Thursday, September 26th 7:00 home against Pymatuning Valley. Nice Game Ladies The varsity girls golf team finished 2nd at CVC Tournament and solidified their 2nd place position in the final standings for the Valley Division. By combining this tournament victory with their regular season title, secured on Wednesday, they have achieved an impressive season sweep. Eagles soar to victory! 🎾🦅 The boys soccer team entered their match against Mayfield on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Geneva Eagles lost 4-0 to the Mayfield Wildcats. Having soared to a lofty five goals in the game before with their win against Conneaut, the team's shutout was a dramatic turnaround. The JV girls golf team dropped a close match yesterday afternoon against Lake Catholic 233-234. Scoring for the ladies were Elyza Schmid 55, Eva Sabo 56, Taylah Boss 61, and Macey Schmid 62 supported by Abby Reese 71. The girls wrapped up the match play season with a 3-4 record. Good season ladies! The boys soccer team hasn't lost a match since August 27th, a trend which continued in their latest game on Thursday. Neither they nor the Berkshire Badgers could gain the upper hand, so the two teams had to settle for a 1-1 draw. Geneva's goal came courtesy of Paxton Galliazzo, assisted by Kyle Opron. Paxton is now up to eight goals this season. Geneva's draw gives them a new season record of 4-3-2. Go Eagles 🦅 The Boys Soccer team won last night with a commanding lead over the Edgewood Warriors and a final score of 5-1. With a perfect 4-0 first half, the Eagles soared and put in some fresh birds from the nest who scored 1 additional goal in the second half. Edgewood had high hopes coming in from their victory over the Eagles last year, but fell short as this year's defensive line is just too strong. Your Geneva team goals came from Paxton Galliazzo (2), Griffin Parker (1), Patrick McKinney (1), Carter Roberts (1). Alex Lee added 2 assists while Griffin Parker added 1.The win pushes the soccer team forward to 4-3-1 standing.They head out on the road to face off against Berkshire at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
