GMS Penny War starts next week! Put your spare change toward a great cause. All proceeds from our penny war fundraiser will go to DAV's Field of Flags to honor and support our disable military. Pennies are "positive." Here's how it works: containers will be located in the cafeteria during lunches each penny counts as one positive point for YOUR grade level each silver coin counts as negative points for OTHER grade levels. (a quarter takes 25 points away from their total) at the end of the day on October 18th, all change will be counted and points tallied. The grade level with the most points will win a popcorn and movie treat **Cash and dollar coins will also be counted as positive points** ***Rolled coins will count as double points*** Start saving your change, it can make a big difference! At around 10:30 today, a student, at GMS, accidentally knocked the cover off of a fire alarm pull station. When a teacher tried to replace the cover, the alarm was accidentally triggered. Our students did an excellent job exiting the building, and the Geneva Fire Department has given us the all-clear after inspecting the pull station. Thank you for your understanding!

There are two lines for pick up once you reach the front of the school. Please pull all the way up to the cones and check in with the staff member. Produce will be loaded in your car for you by GMS staff members. Distribution is from 3:00 - 4:30 pm, on a first come, first serve basis. Good afternoon! Happy Friday! On Monday, Sept. 23 and Thursday, Sept. 26, all GMS students will be taking the NWEA Map diagnostic assessments in Reading, Language, and Math. The results from these assessments will be used to evaluate where students are with essential skills and grade level content. The results will be used provided to their teachers to plan instruction to better meet individual needs of the students. Results of this testing will be available for parents during conferences on November 6th and 12th. Since the students will be using their Chromebooks for these assessments, please remind them to charge their devices over the weekend and check their "Class of" Google Classroom post for their testing groups and any additional information on MAP testing. Hello GMS Families, Geneva Area City Schools is proud to announce the move to FINAL FORMS, a new user-friendly online registration program. On July 1st, you should have received a link in your primary email that is on file at the school. Many parents and students have completed all of the forms in FinalForms. Please double check your account to make sure all of your forms have been completed. Several students need to complete the form for the Code of Conduct. If you have any questions please reach out to the school on Tuesday.

Geneva Middle School is partnering with the Cleveland Food Bank this year to offer the School Market Program beginning September 3rd, offering fresh produce to families in Geneva and all of Ashtabula County. Hello Families! We are so excited to bring a new program to GMS this year! Our 6th graders will all have the opportunity to learn and explore in our STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) classes. In order for students to be able to create many of the hands-on inquiry learning activities, they will need some recyclable materials. That's where we need your help!
