Dear Geneva Families,
Due to the approval process with the local health department and input from various school and district personnel, the Return to School Plan will not be shared with the community until the week of August 10th (see below). I know for some of you, this does not provide adequate time for making some decisions about the school year. As a District, we understand and we will do our best to continue to update you as much as we can during the coming weeks. Changes are happening daily and we continue to adapt to new guidance, policies and information.
As mentioned in the the family survey that was provided, we plan to have an in-school option following the safety guidelines that have been mandated and recommended over the past month. In addition, Geneva Schools will have a fully online option. Geneva teachers will assist in monitoring this online option and provide additional support. This option will be available for families that may not feel comfortable returning to school to begin the 2020-21 school year. More information will be shared in the coming weeks.

Timeline:
7/22/20 - Staff / Family Survey Summary and Draft Information for Plan shared with the Board of Education
7/27 - 7/31 - Administrator / Supervisor Review the "draft" plan
8/3 - 8/7 - Plan document shared with certified and classified associations, teachers, staff and original COVID-19 teams and representatives. **At this time, the plan will be submitted to the Ashtabula County Health Department for approval.
Week of 8/10 - 8/14 - Once approval has been provided, plan will be share with Geneva Schools parents and families. *PLEASE NOTE: potential changes may be made or the district calendar adjusted based on state and local guidance.
8/19/20 - Final plan approved by the Geneva Board or changes recommended based on current guidance.
Tentative: 8/25/20 , 8/26/20, 8/27/20 - Professional Development / Training days for all teachers and staff
*8/31/20 - First Day of School for grades 1 - 12 students and staff
*9/2/20 - First Day of School for Kindergarten students
*PLEASE NOTE: Current guidance and conditions may require an adjustment to the start of the school year / calendar.
