Geneva Elementary Schools Parent Guidelines for 2025-2026
*** All information is subject to change - You will be notified of changes
Cork Elementary Parents,
We are off to a great year. You received' at the start of school year, Cork Elementary Guidelines and Procedures. This is a refresher now that we have been in school several days. Here are some guidelines/procedures to remember throughout the school year:
Birthday Treats
Items must be individually wrapped for each student with the ingredients. There are many students with food allergies and this will help determine what can and cannot be consumed. Please make plans with your child’s teacher before any treats are brought in to the classroom. There is no delivery of flowers or balloons during the school day and invitations can only be dispersed if every student in the classroom receives one.
Breakfast/Lunch
This year, breakfast and lunch will be FREE for all students.
Classrooms
Grades 3 and 5 are departmentalized and will move to other classrooms for instruction. One teacher will teach both classrooms in a designated subject(s). The homeroom teacher will cover all other subjects.
Specials (art ,music, gym) will take place in their designated classrooms/areas.
Classroom Libraries
Students can/will be assigned materials by their teachers. These items are the students responsibility to care for.
Cleaning and Sanitation
Restrooms will be cleaned/disinfected daily and additional cleanings when warranted.
Cafeteria tables will be cleaned between each student’s use at both breakfast and lunch.
Students' desks will be cleaned at the end of each school day.
Door knobs will be disinfected throughout the school day.
Final Forms
Please make sure all forms are filled out in Final Forms. Parents need to go in every year to sign off on the information even if there are no changes. Please do this ASAP as your child cannot participate in field trips and other district events without it being completed.
Library
Books may be checked out and must be returned upon the assigned date.
Parent Pickups
Parents will be assigned a car number and will utilize dismissal process. Parents can use the numbers from last year. If you need a pickup number, please call the office and we will make them for you. Copies will not be accepted during the dismissal line. PLEASE spread out the times you arrive as this will lessen cars on the row. Arrival between 3:00 and 3:20pm will help as students are not called down to the gym until almost 3:00pm. We try to get students out as son as they come to the gym but it takes time for students to get ready to hear their number being called. ** PLEASE rehearse your pick up number with your child as many do not know their number.
Parents will not be permitted to enter the building during dismissal. All office staff will be assisting in the dismissal process. Safety is our number one priority. If you walk up to pick up your child during dismissal, you will wait until the car line has diminished and then they will be brought out. The car line is our mode for dismissal.
If a parent needs to pick up prior to dismissal, a note should accompany the student in the morning. There are no special pickups during normal dismissal. Please plan accordingly.
Parties
At the teacher's discretion, there may be (2) volunteers at each party.
Pictures
Pictures will be on September 30th. Packets will be available as the date approaches.
Recess/Outdoor Time/Playground
There is recess daily. Please be sure to watch the weather and dress your child(ren) accordingly. Two days a week, classes have a morning recess in which they can go out for play or if a student needs to makeup homework or need additional practice with the teacher, they might stay in class. This
Restroom Schedule/Procedures
Teachers will schedule restroom times within their own hallways.
Students will be permitted to take the pass one at a time per class, if needed, to use the restroom. Students must wash their hands after using the restroom.
The water fountains are turned back on for daily use. Students can bring a filled reusable water bottle to school. ** ONLY WATER IS PERMITTED. There are refilling stations throughout the building.
RIMPs (Reading Improvement and Monitoring Plan)
Students are given a diagnostic assessment three times per year in order for teachers to adjust their lessons to meet the needs of their students. The assessments monitor strengths and weaknesses for each student in Reading and Math. It can also be a predictor for Ohio State Testing Outcomes. If a student’s diagnostic scores show they are reading below grade level, a Reading Improvement and Monitoring Plan will be created. RIMPs are what we call these plans. We need to identify below level readers in grades K-3 by September 30th using the KRA and/or MAP and develop a plan within thirty days of testing.
School Supplies
Please replenish supplies during the year. Pencils are especially needed throughout the year.
Student Day
Arrival Time - Bus Riders
As buses arrive, students that eat breakfast will be unloaded from the bus at 8:25. Starting at 8:30, students that do not eat breakfast will be unloaded from the bus/drop-off line and go directly to class.
Arrival Time - Car Riders
All car riders will be dismissed from their cars at 8:25. Students that eat breakfast can go directly to the cafeteria. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR CHILD UNATTENDED AT THE FRONT DOOR! Families cannot drop off students before 8:25. There is no supervision.
Student Dismissal from Classrooms
Car riders will be dismissed by numbers. Students will report to their dismissal spot in the gymnasium. The students will be dismissed to parents in the pick-up line at 3:00PM. Please do not line up for dismissal before 2:30PM. Cars that cannot enter the driveway must circle back. It is illegal to block the road. You can earn a ticket for blocking the road. The bussed students will start boarding buses around 3:15PM.
Student Lunch
Cafeteria is the primary designated area for student lunch and students have twenty minutes for lunch. Again, this is FREE this year. Ice cream still requires money. Please put the money in a sealed envelope with your child’s name and homeroom on it. Your child is responsible to give the money to the teacher.
Student Illness
Please do not send students to school if they are not 24 hours free from throwing up or a fever (without medicine).
Snacks
If a classroom has a daily snack time, teachers will inform you.
Visitors/Volunteers
The building has a visitor entry system and your drivers license will be required when you enter. A badge will be issued once clearance is given. Volunteers will be given the BOE Policy to review and sign. Signing indicates you can volunteer after reading the policy. If you falsify the information, the police department may be called. After volunteering at the end of the day, please report to the office. You will not be permitted to pick up your child out of the dismissal line. Your child will be sent to the office so that a staff member can make sure that the student has been released to the right person.
Looking forward to another great year!
