Kindergarten Registration:

Welcome to our future Cork Elementary Students. In order for students to start their educational journey, they must be enrolled.

2026-2027 Kindergarten Registration  Please share with anyone you might know who has a child ready for Kindergarten.

What to Do:

1.  Go to the Geneva Area City Schools website. GACS Website

Click on Final Forms

Complete the registration information in Final Forms. If you are able, upload your child’s birth certificate, social security card, immunization records, and any custody documents. If you are unable to upload these documents, then bring them with you on the 29th.

2. Call the Cork Office to set up an appointment for April 29th

Please call the office to set up a time for a Kindergarten  teacher to meet with your child. The teacher will do a quick screening at this time. While your child is with a teacher, parents will meet with Mrs. Horvath, Central Administration Officer, in which you will bring your child’s birth certificate, social security card, immunization records, and proof of guardianship if not living with both parents, as required by Ohio Law. If you are able to upload these documents into Final Forms, then you will not have to bring them to the appointment.

If you are unable to attend on the 29th, you are welcome to go to the other elementary buildings to register. Your child will still attend Cork but you can register at the other locations.

REMINDERS:

Final Forms: Please make sure you are updating your phone numbers and information on Final Forms. This is our main form of communication. Some families still have not completed all of their forms.

Morning Drop Off: Students riding the bus can enter the school at 8:20am if they are going to breakfast. Students in the drop off lane enter at 8:25am and go to breakfast. This is staggered as compared to the bus drop off due to cafeteria traffic and waiting in line. Parents who are parking and walking their students can enter the building at 8:25am. Please do not drop your child off and leave until you see they have entered the building. (Parking lot only) There are aides in the cafeteria who make sure students are having enough time to eat.

End of the Day Pick Up: Please do not call your child to your car if you see them waiting. With 2 lanes of traffic moving, we like to be in control of when the students get into their car. It is a dance between knowing which cars are loaded and pulling out and who needs to cross the curb lane. If your child darts out in front of a car that is ready to move, it could be dangerous.

It helps everyone if students understand their day and how they will be getting home  before they leave for school.   We do not take phone calls to change transportation arrangements.  Classroom notes to teachers provide the best and safest communication for your child.

We require all changes be in writing.

Send a note to your child’s teacher when normal schedules or routines are changed due to:

     •    Change in transportation home.

     •    Release from gym class, recess or another activity.

     •    Change in medication.

     •    Absence or tardiness. (if a note or medical excuse is not sent, your child will be considered truant)

     •    Change in, living arrangements, or babysitter.

The K-5 Student Handbook is available online.  Pay particular attention to dress code guidelines and the conduct code. Please let us know if you require a paper copy.

Drills: By law public schools are required to perform monthly safety drills: Fire, Tornado and Lock Down. A Lock Down does not mean there is an active shooter. There are many different scenarios that require the use of a Lock Down.

Cell  Phone usage: Effective January 1, 2026, Ohio law requires all public schools to adopt policies that prohibit student cell phone use during the instructional day to minimize distractions.

Medications are distributed by prescription only and require the signature of a parent and physician on a Geneva Schools Medication Form.  Medications may not be transported by bus.  Parents or guardians will need to check in their medicine with the nurse or office staff.

Soaring Eagle: At the end of each month a student or students who follow our SOAR acronym will be recognized as a Soaring Eagle.

S- Stand Up for Everyone Everyday.

O- Organization - be ready for each day.

A- Always do your best.

R- Respect adults, classmates and yourself.

Soaring Eagles for this year so far….
